You might want to sit down and dedicate a Saturday (depending on how many tools you have) to figuring out what tools you have. It is a good idea to actually take a physical inventory of everything that you have. Write down each item, what you primarily use it for, and how often you use it. This will come in handy later once you begin working on how you want to organize your garage tools. This list is also great for insurance purposes.
Once you have this inventory of your tools, look at the "how often you use it" section. For those that you use rarely, think about whether it is worth it or not to even have that tool. Maybe it is a leftover from a hobby that you no longer have. If that is the case, it is probably time to get rid of it.
